Fledgling Wren, brought in by cat!!

Hi, my cat brought in a fledgling wren, it was making an awful noise, but after relieving the cat of its "gift" i examined the bird and to my relief it was uninjured and very lively. the problem is i have no idea where the cat found the bird so i was a little reluctant to just realease it back out side.

I'm going to look for a wildlife rescue in my area tomorrow, but im a little worried that if i don't, i wanted to know do they feed through the night?? and ive fed it some worms, i hope it wont harm the little thing, has i know wrens are insect eaters!!, what else should i do??

there's some knowledgeable people here on this sort of thing so hopefully you'll get a reply, but ensure it has some water, is warm enough, and is comfortable. cover its container slighty for its own comfort as well as to stop it escaping! i'm sure some better advice is on its way

In the absence of any experts on the matter, I'd tend to agree with thebeard and say just keep the little thing comfortable and as less stressed as possible until the morning, I think it is highly unlikely that it would need to be fed throughout the night. However, daylight will bring it's own problems, I am positive the little creature will expect a drip feed of delights, judging from how hard the parent birds work to keep their young satisfied! I hope perhaps a wildlife centre will be able to help you out, but you will have to act quickly, whatever you do.

If the young wren is ok, put it back outside at dawn in some thick shrubbery, its parents will find it, (unless your cat strays a very long distance from home) but keep the cat in.

Thank you to everyone who gave advice, i was up 5.00 this morning digging up worms!! but to see the little thing open its mouth in excitement was worth it.
I found the Essex wildlife Hospital in Orsett and they have taken in the bird, so rest assured she is in good hands, Phew!!
