I came across a Redshank this morning feeding at the side of a narrow ditch.
.
As I was taking a few pics of him I could hear a Lapwing calling for her chicks, she was very close but I couldn't see her. I then noticed her walking towards me through the longer grass.
As soon as she saw me she stood there watching me for a few seconds then flew to the other side of the ditch and continued calling them.
The chicks went to the water edge then to my amazement started swimming across like little ducklings.

They spent a little while looking for a path through the thick reeds, clambered up the ditch bank to mum then wandered off into the longer grass.
Interesting to watch, something I have never seen them do before.
