There was a bit on this in Bill Oddie's program Top Ten Aliens the other night on BBC2 - showed some Mandarin ducklings leaping out of the nest and going splat into the leaf litter below and bouncing!

I saw this on BBC Breakfast this morning. Hope they get out and join their mum OK. Just worry that they will stay with the owl too long and get abandoned by their real mother. I have seen films of ducks building in trees before, and the ducklings following their mum to the ground, but if they regard the owl as mum, they will have no encouragement to leave the box. I guess the owner will monitor the situation and keep and eye on their welfare.
