| | | Re: Three golden eagles among birds found 'poisoned' on Scots estate Well Ive been involved with all forms of hunting all my life, but, I have always said when things like this are happening, that estate should somehow be stripped of being able to hunt or shoot..its happening all the time now, I was part of a hen harrier nest watch in north Northumberland a few years back and the female was shot when she had left her nest for her early morning flight...sickening

| | | Re: Three golden eagles among birds found 'poisoned' on Scots estate Doxhope, what a fantastic idea! I wonder why we cannot do this, they must have some kind of events licence for all the people to gather and play with firearms! They could just withold them to the estate for 10 years!
I always think forcible relocation to some form of inner city estate would be a good thing to do with people who deliberately kill raptors. |

| | | Re: Three golden eagles among birds found 'poisoned' on Scots estate I am very pleased to see some estates speaking out; Scots landowners demand action to end illegal poisoning of birds of prey - Herald Scotland | News | Transport & Environment
Fair dues to them. It's refreshing to hear them condemn it outright. Maybe, this might put more pressure on the guilty. They do need to back their words with actions too.
Oh dear - just read that one of the signatures was from a guy singing the same old "isolated incident" hymn. Quote: |
Andrew Salvesen, who runs pheasant shoots on his Findrack and Tillyfour estates near Banchory, said: “The reason I added my name and that of the estate as signatory is that these poisonings are isolated incidents that happen in Scotland from time to time.
| Still seems to be a culture of denial with some who signed it.

| | | Re: Three golden eagles among birds found 'poisoned' on Scots estate Unfortunately it says everything that it is far easier to see eagles in the realatve "badlands" of the islands than in the eastern highlands and the Cairngorms.
I know that the Scottish Parliament has made the right noises, but can people who are close to the politics say what is actually happening on the political front (either at a national or local level)?
Also anyone know what steps has the Cairngorms Natonoal Park Authority taken? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
