| | | House Finch There is an unconfirmed report of a House Finch singing in a garden at Land's End in Cornwall. Anyone heard anything about this one. One comment on Rare Bird Alert website. I'm treating it with a safe pinch of salt as I know several hoaxes have been perpetrated down that way before now.
Cheers,
Adam |

Cheers,
Adam | I'm more inclined to call it as an escapee rather than a hoax. I live 20 miles from Lands End and i dont intend on leaving my settee just yet....... Been present 5+ days by all accounts. If it's not an escapee you cant rule out ship assisted where Lands End is concerned |

| | | Re: House Finch i've just had a look on birdforum and the general opinion is that it must be an escape, as they are a common cage bird and the wind direction/time of year are both wrong for the bird to be here on migration.
it has been confirmed as a house finch though, showing well apparently!

| | | Re: House Finch ...and yet the masses were happy to go for the white-throated sparrow down there a week or so ago. Not that I'm intending to go anyway. I'm happy with the Iberian Chiffchaff yesterday.
Cheers,
