last year i went up to leighton moss , and heard a bittern but didnt see it, and on tuesday the bbc had the presenter up and they had no luck, but she blew into a bottle to mimmick the call, and reckons thats what they sound like, they really are an illusive bird , but others on here have seen them at other reserves. rossy.

Doubt very much whether this is the very first time this has been filmed - I am fairly certain I have seen film in the past. Not the first time the Beeb have claimed a first for something that is no such thing!

I've seen footage of other bittern species booming before, but never the great bittern.

You sure it wasn't a different bittern you saw footage of Henrya?

I saw the clip on the internet, and yes, remarkable footage.

I am pretty sure I have seen film of Bitterns booming in Norfolk
