| | | Osprey As a regular visitor to the webcam for the Ospreys at the Loch of the Lowes, I read this evening with much sadness, that they have heard rumours that the Ospreys at Rutland have been shot.
I would like to know why people wish to kill these birds. I can only assume that it is something to do with the fish they take. However,as these birds basically 'holiday' here each year for a short period, I cannot see that their fishing makes that much difference.
Could anyone enlighten me please |

| | Re: Osprey Because the human being can be mindless and uncaring. The Ospreys are just doing something thats natural. If it was left to me,strict punishments would be in place for anyone harming our wildlife.Because the people that run Rutland work well with the local wildlife,i can only assume that its down to idiotic vandals with nothing better to do!!!!! |

| | | Re: Osprey I saw it on the Loch of Lowes Osprey blog. The team there were answering a post made at 5.47, by someone saying it was in the local newspaper, and that the police had been called in. The Team said they had heard it too. Sorry, not good with links |

| | | Re: Osprey Yes, I just went to the address line of my browser, which is Mozilla Firefox incidentally, and highlighted all of the URL.
Then I did a " copy" with <ctrl + C>
then I went into the reply window and did " paste" with <ctrl + V>
I've just done the same with this thread.... Osprey
The forum inserts the URL as a link and hides it behind the page name.
Incidentally anyone still using InternetExplorer as their browser must be barking! Both Opera and Firefox are vastly superior in my opinion.

I find Opera to be faster than Firefox and Google Chrome to be faster than both.

| | | Re: Osprey I still use IE, I've never had a problem with it, and find it extremely fast, apart from one particular site, which is more likely to be the site rather than the browser.
I have a flat screen HD TV and HD Sky+ box and drive an 05 Mondeo. So much for sweeping generalisations!
Anyway, back on topic, I can't find any update on the story about the shooting since the news story on the 16th Of April. I wonder if this was just a temporary disappearance. I remember that last year the Abernethy male Osprey, Odin, disappearred for almost two days. He returned festooned in fishing line which he eventually managed to free himself from.
Hopefully the Rutland Ospreys have returned safely, which hasn't been reported because good news is no news.
