went to look at the local colony of sand martins and pleased to report they are doing very well with around 80 pairs, which is up on last year, whilst watching a sparrowhawk came in but didnt manage to take 1, also saw my 1st house martins, rossy.
There seem to be fewer at the London Wetland Centre with up to c50 birds at present; if I remember correctly their artificial bank had c90 holes taken last year. Maybe some tardy birds to arrive?
