Blue tit incubation

Can anyone tell me how long sitting to hatching time is for bluetits. and do they sit on eggs all time?

Hi Dragline and welcome to the forum

First I would advise you to appropriately name your thread, to make it easier to search the forums and to make sure people know what thread they are going into.

Blue tits breed around mid-April. And Incubate for 12- 16 days and fledge for around 15- 23 days. The female sits on the eggs for about the whole of 2 weeks.

Hi Connor 7, thanks for reply. I have 5 eggs in box (1 everyday since Friday).
She only sits on them at night, but partially covers them in day. Is this normal or will she sit more when finished laying?

Yes I would say so, once all eggs have been layed* your blue tit will more or less settle down to incubate.

It is normal that your blue tit is only sitting for periods and in the evening. But don't worry too much, I'm sure every things going to be fine. 1 egg per day also sounds normal

you had better think of another for "thing" instead of "think" while you're at it then

incubation wont start until the entire clutch of eggs are laid.

Hi Connor, Lol not right spelling but sounds good!!!
Could not see if 6th egg was laid this a/m ,she had covered them up!
Obviously she is looking after them for future incubation. All is crossed

Have 8 eggs in box now, still no sign of her sitting except at night.
