| | | ?BoP feather ID please I recently found these feathers in a local wood clearing, which is situated in between a lake and a nature reserve, with farmers' fields beyond. There were several more of these feathers in the one spot, but I only collected 3 to photograph for an ID. Any ideas what species they belonged to?
I used my 8 year old's sunglasses as indicator of scale: |

| | | Re: ?BoP feather ID please They are Tawny Owl. The velvety feel to the surface of the inner web is characteristic of owls. No bird loses that many feathers in one go through moult, so I'm guessing it has been killed. |

| | | Re: ?BoP feather ID please Thank you so much for the quick ID, RKB - You won’t believe the amount of time I’ve spent googling BoP feather images to no avail! Poor Tawny, I wonder what could have predated an owl. The feathers weren’t chewed, all were neatly plucked... |

| | | Re: ?BoP feather ID please Sparrowhawk, Peregrine or Goshawk are possibilities. Foxes sometimes don't chew them off either. |
