| | | help our blue tit box fell, eggs x4 intact our blue tit bird box fell, the box is destroyed, however the actual nest is intact as are x4 eggs. they were covered over and the nest is very deep.
The blue tits themselves have not been present for a few days, they are back in the tree now and are now looking for their eggs and house. They are currently taking up residence in one of our other boxes, in the same tree
but my main concern and question is what should i do with the eggs and nest. |

| | | Re: help our blue tit box fell, eggs x4 intact With only 4 eggs she will still be laying (an egg per day) the only thing you could try is to put the nest in the other box, but move it to the the same position of the one that fell. If you'd done it the same day the chances of it accepting would be pretty high, but its a long shot after a few days. Try be more careful in future to make sure your boxes are secure. There's no real excuse for this.

| | | Re: help our blue tit box fell, eggs x4 intact the box fell couple of hours ago, it has been used by same family for past few years, the tree has grown so unable to reach the box, so please dont say anything about excuses. my husband is going to reattch the box, we feel terrible enough. we enjoy watching them,as do my children. thankyou |

| | | Re: help our blue tit box fell, eggs x4 intact Ok it's just that if you put boxes up it is always possible to check they are secure before the breeding season. The eggs will be fine as she won't have started incubating yet, but please try get the box back up before morning as this is when the next egg will be laid. If you get it up tonight I'm pretty confident everything will be fine. Good luck and please try get it back up tonight.

| | Re: help our blue tit box fell, eggs x4 intact ..Hello Jepo12, so glad the box is back up, but if they don't go back to it, don't feel bad about it, cos these things happen. But as she's in the middle of laying I'm sure you've got a good chance of her going back into her nest, so don't worry, just wait and see what happens.. Good Luck, and let us know how things go....Posie. |

what is it with some people, daily people patronise newcomers, an accident is an accident, boughs with nests fall down all the time, some people are not as agile or all knowing as others, well done jepo12, you are doing your bit for britain. and good luck, hope it ends successfully, but remember accidents happen , and not all accidents are avoidable. |
