| | | Bee versus bluetit which will win the nest? Help... I am so exited to have a pair of bluetits nesting in a box with a camera in it! However one day after the first egg was laid an insect was heard in the box at night and the femail seemed very ill at ease.
Now it is clear that the bee has taken a liking to the nest and burrows deep into the nesting material. There are now three eggs [one a day] and last night the femail was sitting right on the side of the nest and seemed agitated. She has not returned to the nest during the day and I am concerned that the squatter bee will cause her to desert it... Question- What happens if a bee stings a bluetit? Does anyone know the likely outcome of this situation? many thanks. |

After about three or four days the bee disappeared.
It may be a coincedence but I followed the instructions on another forum which advised putting a shallow saucer of sugary water on the ground, near the nest.... The Idea being to give the bee energy and refreshment enabling it to fly of to pastures new!
It may be a load of fanciful rubbish .... but the day after the sugar went out, the bee was gone............
PS. 10 eggs being incubated now! |
