| | | Help Needed Urgent! Robin Chicks ! PHOTO of Chick! Hi Forum,
I Have currently Nesting Robins in my garage! Great! I Have nothing against that and i love the little robin's I've been keeping my eye on them and not sure when they hatched i did start to hear the chicks screaming for food.
They are nesting behind a bag so i cannot see them in view unfortunatly. so i have no idea's on numbers and when they hatched! The robins go in through a broke window.. i look through a hole in the garage door and today was quite worried to hear a "chip .. chip.. chip" coming from outside the nest and noticed the parents feeding the chicks.. not at the nest.. but on the ground!
I Cannot see them though, but the robin parent is definatly not flying round the nest and now is feeding them on the garage ground.
Im not sure if they have fledged or if they have fallen out the nest and in help!
What do i do?

Thank you for reading

| | | Re: Help Needed Urgent! Robin Chicks ! Hi Mealworm. Firstly some details about your garage? Is it in full sun, on the roof, in windows? Does it have an open window? Do you regularly open the door? In this weather the family might well be suffering from the heat. I would put a shalllow dish of water down for them and if poss leave the door open when you are around. The chick in the photo looks quite old enough to have left the nest, but your latest report about a chick not moving is a worry. They do sit still. If it is in trouble it would be lying on its side, and you would see its feet. Fledgelings that have left the nest need to be able to get out into the garden pretty sharpish and they will not be able to go in and out of a window like their parents. As soon as you are confident that they can fly, you must leave the door open for them, especially if there is any glazing that is not opened. They will kill themselves flying into a closed window.
Hope that's covered anything. Good luck with getting your little family launched. |

| | | Re: Help Needed Urgent! Robin Chicks ! PS. When I said shalow dish, I meant it.! It is a good idea also to place some stones in the dish. Babs can easily slip about in water with a smooth surface, fall over and drown. Another thin is, have you got any substances in the garage that could give off fumes? Young birds are very susceptible to air pollution. |

| | | Re: Help Needed Urgent! Robin Chicks ! We have a roofed old garage which is very drafty, but does get easily warm. i have opened the front. We have no fumes being given off in the garage.. it's really just a storage area! and put down a very small plate with stones and water as i said! The chick seems to be fine now, and i can hear the others flapping there wings against the bag!
Thank you so much for your advice.. i hope to see them in the garden soon!
Latest photo coming soon Parents robins are attending! |

| | | Re: Help Needed Urgent! Robin Chicks ! Hi Mealworm. Me again. I was a bit worried about what you said about hearing the other babies scrabbling. It sounds as if they may be stuck behind that sack! If the one outside is still alive and being fed by the adults, I would try to move the sack very carefully out a bit, to release the other chicks. Aults do not continue to feed trapped fledgelings for long. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
