| | | Siskin flocks We had unusually high numbers of Siskins in our woodland this winter (flocks of 200-300 rather than the usual 50-100) feeding on Japanese Larch with flocks of Goldfinches). There still seem to be a lot around - I saw around 100 yesterday.
I wonder can anyone shed light on why these birds haven't gone off to breed somewhere? Could it be just that Spring hasn't sprung yet further north where these birds are from? Anyone else noticed a Siskin boom this year? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
