| | | Lots of Lesser Black Backed Gulls I've recently seen a lot of Lesser Black-backed Gulls in the city centre near where I work, I guess it is usual for them to move inland for breeding?
On the contrary, no Black-headed Gulls seem to be around. These seem to have completely disappeared. It is just the LBBG's I see now.
Are others finding the same thing? |

| | | Re: Lots of Lesser Black Backed Gulls Around London Black-headed Gulls are everywhere in the winter, but around mid March they mostly disappear to various sites both in the UK + as far away as Russia. In recent years a few pairs now nest at Staines Reservoirs on the tern rafts. Similarly all the Comon gulls go a few days or so later.
Both Herring + LBB gulls breed in the city so we see them year round. The odd pair of Great BB has also bred recently. |
