| | | Strangest Place for a birds' nest? It would be interesting to hear other people's stories about the oddest place a bird's nest has been found?
It struck me driving home from work yesterday, how resourceful birds are. I saw a Magpie fly to it's nest in a tree, in the middle of a city centre dual carriageway! The constant sound of traffic day and night next to the nest didn't seem to put this pair of Magpies off.
I've also hear of birds nests in tractors, sheds etc. |

| | | Re: Strangest Place for a birds' nest? ..Here...Pied Wagtail in the engine of a Vintage Farmall tractor, luckily it didn't have to be used for a while.
..also here..Bluetit inside the tubing of a hay trolley..Also managed without , till it was 'vacant'
My friend told me last week that a bird had made a nest in a haynet with hay in that had been left hanging up, in her field shelter.....Posie.. |

He would use it to collect logs in a nearby Inclosure & the parents would be waiting by the time he got back. All succesfully fledged. |

| | | Re: Strangest Place for a birds' nest? I wouldn't have believed this if I hadn't seen a photo of it the other day. An Osprey platform at the top pf a large conifer tree in SW Scotland has a greylag goose on it sitting on eggs right now. Incredible.

| | | Re: Strangest Place for a birds' nest? The street light outside our house stopped working about 4 weeks ago!
Tonight i have just spotted 2 bluetits going in and out with food
I hope the babies will be alright when they fledge, as the light is higher than the house |

| | | Re: Strangest Place for a birds' nest? This blackbird nested in a greenhouse in a garden centre. The owners had placed a warning sign and everybody tiptoed closer to watch the female incubating among the Cordylines!
