Nesting Mandarin duck

Hi,

I have a female madarin duck nesting in the tree in my back yard.

She has about a 0.5 mile journey when the chicks hatch to get them to the local park where there is a large lake but has numerous cats to avoid and traffic from a busy road to dodge before she gets there. (That's assuming that all the chicks when they jump from the tree land in my yard and she doesn't have to try and get them from neighbouring yards).

I have let the neighbours know that she is there but was wondering if there was anything else that I should do?

I appreciate any advice anyone can give

It is very exciting, and I am hoping that I will be home when it happens - but I think the chances of me being there when they fly the nest is small - I am usually out of the house from 7-6 M-F.
