| | | Red Kites in Hampshire I live about 10 miles north of Portsmouth and on sunday morning my next door neighbour told me he'd seen a large BOP circling over our houses..he said it just seemed to hang in the air..I said I thought it may have been a buzzard but he seemed pretty sure it wasnt. Having not seen said bird I couldnt really argue..until monday when I was convinced I'd seen a Red Kite moving away from the same area, then yesterday saw it again...it was a Red Kite..it circled overhead for around 10 minutes then just drifted away out of sight...so today..armed with a camera and binoculars ray is on Red Kite patrol!!!!...keep you all updated..hopefully with a photo or two. I do hope it wasnt just a passing migrant and that we are finally gonna get them this far south! |

| | | Re: Red Kites in Hampshire Hi Ray55,
It is a good year for seeing Red Kites in South Hants. In the Southampton area I have now seen 3 individual sightings at different places already this year, though they are highly mobile. Many other people are reporting Kites. One day they might settle I hope. |
