Urgent

a baby blackbird has been attacked in my garden about half an hour ago. we have moved him to underneath a bush and given him a little dish of water as he kept opening his mouth. when he had just been attacked his breathing was very fast but it has calmed down now. he has lost some feathers to his head and he has blood by his eye. he is a black bird and we know that his parents are close by as they were flying round as we moved him the the bush and they chased the magpie away. i don't know what to do next as i desperately want to save him, what can i do?? PLease Help Me!

Harsh as it may seem, the best thing you can do now is nothing more ... the parent birds should be on high alert and should repel any further attacks.

The alternative would involve takiing the bird to a wildlife rehabilitator to raise... that's not decision to be taken lightly, but much depends on judt howold the bitd is...hatchling nestling or fledgling?
