| | | What the h**l was this??? Hi all,
first time poster here looking for some identification assistance please.
We are keen garden birdwatchers and actively identify new birds that appear. However today we are stumped and have checked our books, RSPB site etc but can't find it. Please excuse our terminology!!
it was perched on the fence and it was grey all over bar some White stripes/crescents which could have been on the wings. It was quite short knecked and was bigger than a thrush but smaller than a woodpigeon. The final thing was what was on it's head. It was like a topnotch which if you imagine a pea on a piece of string pertruding upwards with a forward droop.
Any thoughts? It has crossed our mind that Chester Zoo is only 15 miles from us and I did get pretty close before it's call made me stop and look up. Sounded like it was saying "who"!!
Thanks in advance |

I see where you are coming from with the topnotch but it was tighter with a small pea like bobble on the end. It was a light grey as well |

Many different species are kept in captivity and do escape from time to time. |
