any blue tit eggs yet?

does anyone out there have blue tit eggs in nestboxes yet? My bluetit still seems to be building and no sign of the male to help. I just wondered roughly when i could expect them to start laying (this is my first year....) and thought that perhaps they had been delayed by the bad weather in March??

Not yet, but I think it might not be too long before the female in our Box 2 starts laying, and I know someone in Dresden who has nine eggs!

If you look at the Overview page of our Diary you'll see the dates of various events in our boxes since 2001.

They haven't been delayed by very much, if at all. There should be lots of first eggs around the Midlands/South this weekend and next week, as many boxes are now lined and the weather forecast is quite good. I have several lined Marsh Tit nests too, one of which is already laying. Great Tits are always a few days behind on average.

Mine are finally bringing in wool to line their nest, so I hope it won't be too long.

Just found a Great Tit nest with 5 eggs, and a Blue tit with one.

Thanks folks - obviously I was being a little impatient!! Mine is still building so i hope it wont be too much longer
