| | | Good Friday hatching My nesting robins hatched Good Friday- parents doing feeding now, lots of worms to nest - can't wait for a peek at the babies - too small to see yet in nest - how long will it take before they are big enough to be seen above nest line when being fed? |

| | | Re: Good Friday hatching How lovely The parents will be kept pretty busy for a while. If you can't resist a peek make sure the parents are away looking for food, other wise they will become stressed.
I had a Song thrush nest in a flower basket attatched to the side of my flat, it was fascinating. Sadly though a Magpie or squirrel ate the eggs, both were seen close to the nest. The Magpie was on top of the nest, the squirrel was seen dashing off on a few occasions. Very sad, but then the Magpie and the squirrel were only behaving naturally, having said that it was very sad.

| | | Re: Good Friday hatching Thanks for your reply - I have been viewing with a scope and zoom camera from the extension window - I wouldn't dare peek into the nest - I don't want to scare them. I actually saw the beak of one yesterday as Mum was feeding them - it was a thrill ! Sorry to hear you lost your thrushes - I too have had a squirrel and magpie in the garden - but the robins seem alert and watchful - just hope these crittters will not be too red in tooth and claw! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
