Weird Night Noise

Last night (03/04/10) when me and a friend walked out of my house we heard an odd noise above us.

It was almost like a Buzzard but higher pitched, very like a dog's squeaky toy.
It sounded like Keeeooow- keo-keo -keeeooow but as if sqeezing a squeaky toy.


We live 10 miles SW of Glasgow, Scotland and heard the noise at almost exactly 21.15 and heard it twice, thinking that there may have been two, and were an estimated 70 meters above us.

Any ideas? We've listened to some calls but can't think of what it would have been.

We have heard the weather as been terrible up in your neck of the woods for some time now so it is possible that one of your local cats as a bad throat.

An oystercatcher maybe? I've seen & heard them flying at night.
