| | | Mistle thrush? A native or migrant? I feel a bit daft asking this but I had a pair of Mistle Thrushes last year in my garden that raised 2 stonking babies (helped out by the cottage cheese I put out when neighbours still putting out bread and I saw baby choking on it). I have not seen them all winter and now they are back again in last couple of days, are they migratory birds or have they just been really quiet over winter? Have seen many birds over the bad weather, but not these... |

Mistle Thrushes are resident birds in the UK but I guess like many birds the severe winter has mad many of them move around in the search for food.

| | | Re: Mistle thrush? A native or migrant? I been putting out loads of different kinds of food all winter and seen loads of different birds, but not the Mistle or Song Thrush that are regulars in the garden come spring and summer..thats what led me to ask the question...have I not been catering to their specific needs?? Been putting out fatballs, wild bird seed, mealworms, suet pellets, apples, sultanas, grated cheese, millet sprays and finely chopped roast chicken skin... |

A native or migrant? yes mistle thrushes stay over here in winter, bread , sultanas grapes attracts thrushes but yours probably took their young and taught them a few lessons, and maybe found food elsewhere, and the two might even be a different pair ,hope you get a new nest. rossy | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
