| | | My red red robin has..... .....bob bob bobbed off to pastures new!
I'm hoping he's met a wee wife and set up home in another garden, but I do miss him. I've seen him just about every day since October and he wasn't the least bit shy.....he even ate out of my hand and became a bit of a celebrity when his photo was shown on a Scottish TV programme (The Hour)
I even had friends coming round specially to see Wee Rab and people at work liked to see his latest photos.
Well, I haven't seen or heard him for over a week and I'm trying to be "glad that it happened and not sad that it's over!"
I've never seen a robin in my garden during the summer (though it's still winter here in Ayrshire) do they leave the gardens when food is easier for them to get? |

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... Great wee story Tumchy, very likely it's moved on to establish a breeding territory. Often urban robins move into better areas for nesting such as woodlands at this time of year. Hopefully it will return again in October.

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... Always sad to lose a friend in the garden. You kind of come to expect they'll be there hopping around and, at this time of year, singing their little hearts out.

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... Well we had 3 in the garden this morning having a go at each other and they were that occupied not to notice a cat which quickly took one .
Its the 1st time I have seen a Robin taken as they are usually ptretty switched on , its normally the Woodpidgeons that the cats take easily.
I am sure you will get another visiting your garden

Well, I was waiting for the kettle to boil today, watching the sparrows at the feeder, when I saw a flash of orangey/red at the botton of the garden. It was Wee Rab......10 days with not a sighting and there he was. I got my new camera out and took these.
Right I've had a bottle of Merlot an a wee half of The Mcallan whisky and I can't remember hoo to post the pics, but I will do tomorrow. I've only repeated this post aboot a hunner times! |

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... I just love how he has a teardrop shaped eye. My Wee Rab is such a good looking robin....I've seen other robins and they're not nearly as good looking as my wee Rab.
PS the female Blackie is Bessie....she's married to Bob....the Blackie. |

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... Evening Tumchy, and a belated welcome to WAB!
I saw this thread last night and meant to reply sooner - anyway, great news upon his return. Wouldn't you love it if he nested in your garden too!
Nice shots and yes, a very good-looking bird
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: My red red robin has..... Thanks for the welcome Jason....my son is called Jason!
I'd love for him to nest in my garden, but I've only seen him by himself.....if he is a "him" Maybe he's a female??? Maybe he's gay???
The blackbirds have nested here for the last 10 years or so.....we tell the grandkids that the "Bob" & "Bessie" they see now are great grandkids of the original Bob & Bessie.
OK, I'll blame it on the Merlot. x | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
