Firecrest 5 minutes from the sea at Littlehampton

Yesterday I spotted a forecrest in a norwegian spruce behind my back garden - I was amazed to see this little cutey in "my" tree - anyone seen more recently? Are they still being tracked for data of migratory birds?

We tend to get a good influx at this time of year. Ive had a few spread out over winter and am expecting some soon they usually turn up on passage here in late March (now) to early April.

its certainly worth notifying the county recorder/BTO, a record of their abundance and distribution is important, seeing as there's so few of them!

The numbers do seem to be increasing. Certainly in London there seem to have been quite a few the last 2 winters + it can't be long before we have breeding birds.

A stunning little gem that's for sure!
