bird feeders

Hi all, hope everyone is looking foward to what spring and summer bring.

I just wanted to ask peoples advice and thoughts on something - I love to feed the birds but i have no garden (in a flat) and theres cats around, i have a "stick it to the outside of the window feeder" which a few blue tits use daily and that works well, but when we had the cold weather i wanted to help out more birds so i hung up some feeders in hedgerows on my local patch, the birds seem to be queit happy about this b ut i was wondering if im doing the right thing?
any thoughts would be good,

Nowt wrong with that in my opinion (although some may disagree).I think every little helps.The local park has feeders placed randomly in the bushes and trees by the new groundspeople and what used to be a pretty much bird free zone now has a great variety
A friend also lives in a flat and puts feeders in the trees nearby and has had no problems apart from a few rats that already frequented the area so I say yes - do it
