We spent an hour or so at Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve today, our first visit for some months, and were duly rewarded: as well as the "usual'', we heard a Cetti's warbler sing, saw a female marsh harrier (which arrived yesterday, apparently), saw our first chiffchaff and sand martin of the season and also the snow geese on the marshes - a great time was had by all.
On the home front: a pair of bullfinches now comes regularly to the sunflower hearts so, hopefully, they will stay around to breed.
