Heard on the radio this week that someone had seen a swallow on the south Cornish coast at the weekend.
We saw our first today - flock of 3, skimming over the duckpond at Par Beach, whilst we were sitting enjoying a pasty for lunch in th car. We live right in the centre of Cornwall, so usually takes about another week or so before they begin to show up here, but we have seen our first at Easter before, so despite all the bad weather, they seem to be arriving around the usual time.
Anyone else seen any? |

I saw 2 lots of 2 in different local locations on Sunday, I wasn't expecting them for at least a couple of weeks. |

Brilliant - 'one swallow doesn't make a summer' but it sure as hell helps! Earliest for me round here has been 10th April - they nest in our barns but sadly last year numbers were down by 50% - three nests unoccupied but one new one built so look forward to a better year.
More swallow sightings please. |

Saw my first swallow of the year in Baldock, North Herts yesterday. A week or so earlier than most years, but I cheated because I went looking round a usual haunt. |

Saw my first of the year today too! Dungeness, there were quite a few hunting flies over the ponds there! Beautiful stuff! |
