Ive had Swallow and sand martin but not house martin. |

I saw 2 Swallows in 2 different places yesterday, very early for this area. |

I'm wondering if it was indeed Sand Martins that I saw, not House Martins?
A good source of info on the average arrival times of Hirundines, Warblers etc. is on the BTO website: BTO - Migration Watch first arrivals
House Martins are not due normally until April, however Swallow and Sand Martins arrive in March which may explain! |

think it might have been sand martins you saw as house martins dont normally arrive till late april as a rule, and reports on earlier threads of sand martins last week, rossy. |

About 8 swallows circling our garden right now ! This is the earliest I've seen them here in the Clyde Valley for the 5 years we've been living in Lanarkshire/Scotland. |

I watched 4 Sand Martins yesterday darting around over a lake. I figured at first they would be HMs but after checkibng the old field guide and watching a while longer it all seemed to point at SMs. | | |
