Here are three snaps of the first yellowhammer to really show itself this year.
Hope you like them.

| | | Re: Just for Ollie Smashing pics! I have a male that comes occaisionally to my back garden feeder & picks up seeds from the floor. They are an amazingly bright yellow aren't they?
Funny, I considered taking a photo this morning but I only have a phone camera, am off sick at the moment with a bad back & probably wouldn't make it to my phone & back in time to catch him but then realised that my windows were really in need of a clean , as my my mother would say I'd be black-affronted!
So I just had to enjoy a few seconds of observation.

| | | Re: Just for Ollie Excellent photos Colin. I have heard them on my local patch this last couple of weeks and caught very fleeting glimpses of a couple but haven't had any real opportunities to get any photos as yet.
An acquaintance of mine who only lives a few hundred yards up the road from me had over twenty Yellowhammers feeding under his feeding station for several days during the severe weather a few weeks ago, was I jealous, you bet.
I can often hear them singing when I am in my garden but all efforts to actually attract them into the garden have so far failed. I think it's because my garden isn't big enough with not a lot of room for ground feeders like Yellowhammers. I live in hope |
