| | | Grey Heron Incubation period? Hello all,
For weeks I have been visiting my local wetland area for a little walk and to photograph anything that moves. One particular fav part there is always a Grey Heron on there. In recent weeks this has progressed to 2 herons.
I now think that they are nesting as the smaller of the herons is sat on a flattened area of reeds and the larger one is stood about 8 foot away.
Does this sound like they are making a nest or are they 2 sociable herons?
Stuart.

| | | Re: Grey Heron Incubation period? Don't worry Stuart, we have all made similar statements in the past or at least I have.
You've seen something I've never seen - that is a Heron sitting on the ground and I doubt many people have. We'll get to find out soon I'm sure.
As the wetland is local to you, further observation of these birds might reveal some interesting behaviour. Good luck.

| | | Re: Grey Heron Incubation period? Though they mainly nest in trees, they will nest in reeds + other locations. At a small nature reserve in Barnes up to 5 pairs have nested on rafts on the water. This year there are 2 pairs currently incubating on these. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
