foxes killing swans?

Doesn't sound that odd to me. Nor that five have been taken its probably one fox that has learnt a very successful way of killing swans and repeats it. Swans often just 'give up' if you get them by the neck I guess because struggling is as likely to damage the neck.

An adult fox could kill a swan no problem, They regularly kill geese.
They also do bte the heads of and come back to carry away the bodies to bury for later use. They generally kill whatever they can catch at the time and carry of s many as they can manage.
Think Mink though. these are nast little beggars who will have ago at anything including swans and geese. they also bite heads off.
Some unspeakable animal rights people let a load go from Mink Farms and these have bred to cause untold damage thropughout the Uk. Including all but wiping out Water Voles. (My favourite rodent)

it does sound as though a fox was the most likely suspect after all then ,

i just could not picture a fox tackling a swan at all, just goes to show how little i know about our native wildlife
but still, you learn something new every day !, thanks to W.A.B once again

A point worth making is there is the fox (predator) may have scavenged these swans which could of died in other circumstances.
