Great Crested Grebe display at Rufford Park 11 March 2010

Hello went to Rufford Park for the first time and watched a pair of Great Crested Grebes (GCG) displaying if only they had turned around by about 90 deg if would have been great. Some other members of WAb were also in attendence and probally got better shots than mine but here goes

Hi Paul.

As one of those WAB members that were at Rufford I would like to say you did pretty well with your shots considering the angle the birds were at and the lighting conditions at the time.

Certainly better than I got I messed up on exposure compensation with mine, came out much too under exposed to rescue. Did get a few good ones later in the day however when the light was a little improved, although they weren't displaying then.

Ollie did look to see if you put any pics up but looked under the name lincsbirder not Ollie. Nice to meet someone from WAB at least I know I am talking to real people.

The pics I put up were the best ones out of about 20 shots.

Nice set of pics Paul. And like Roger said, the conditions weren't all that brill. (But "published photographers" are never satisfied).

Unfortunetly whilst I was there the swapping of plants didn't happen but look at gslammy (i think) gallary he has a pic from Rufford showing this (def a case of should have been here yesterday!)

It's probably one of the very few occasions that I can say I ought to have been shooting raw with these. Then I may have managed to rescue one or two of them, but you would think a published photographer would have had enough sense to use raw anyway.
