| | Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery Hi all,
I just saw this on the BBC news website: BBC News - Mystery of 75 starlings falling from the sky
Pretty odd.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery That is very strange. Also odd that on Sunday I visited my mum and usually there are large flocks of starling. Didn't spot one in the two hour visit. The article say they died of the injuries hope nothing more sinister is happening as they are just starting to make a small recovery in number. Hope I see more this Sunday

| | | Re: Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery Let us know, TB. If they genuinely fell from above, as they say 75 in 12ft is a very tiny footprint... |

| | | Re: Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery Weird.
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps one or two individuals mistook the ground for something else, and the rest of the flock followed, as a flock does. Perhaps blinded by the suns reflection on something, a large puddle that looked like the sky, dunno. The photo shows bright sunlight at an unusually low angle.
I'm sure there are one or two amongst us here who have walked into a lamp post. |

| | | Re: Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery This story has got my attention all over the net tonight and a little bit of a google and search on youtube reveals this kind of thing happening globally quite often!....all very odd...sometimes mass poisoning, sometimes not...its all a bit too eerie and similar to that episode of 'Flashforward' for my liking
Would make a good story for the excellent 'natureshock' tv series dont you think (hopes people from Channel 5 are on WAB) lol

| | | Re: Starling flock 'falls from sky' mystery I wonder if they can tell whether their legs were tucked up or not when they hit. I read somewhere that they lower their legs in flight if their vision is obscured. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
