| | | Lesser Black-Backed Gull Hello
Been usless at ID'ing gulls I could do with a confirmation or not of this one
Two seen on the lake at Clumber Park on 7 march 2010
I believe it is a Lesser Black-Backed Gull (LBB) in 1st summer plummage due to the following
1)Looks to small to be a Great Black-Backed Gull (compared to my memory of the ones I have had confirmed sightings off) but significantly larger than the Black Headed Gulls on the lake. Appeared smaller than the Greylags on the lake.
2)Back looks to dark for Herring Gull
3) No call heard
Any help or pointers more than welcome
Cheers

Looking in my field guide (RSPB Handbook of British Birds) again I think I have misread the labling of the summer plumages and it is the adult summer not 1st or 2nd summer.
Thanks again

| | | Re: Lesser Black-Backed Gull if you see its legs at any point, they should be yellow, which i use as a pointer for IDing some gulls. GBB gulls have pink legs at their adult stage
