| | | Barn Owl Hello
Saw my first Barn Owl this evening managed to grab a couple of shots but not the best due to low light. Going to go back and see if I can get a better picture but really happy to have got even these

| | | Re: Barn Owl Well done Riggy. What a wonderful bird you have managed to photograph, and against a wonderful sky too. You have photos now to help treasure the memory of your first barn owl... hope it's the first of many |

Probably my favourite bird.
We have quite a few around our village andthey are always a delight to see. Sometimes you can catch them quite late in the morning or early in the evening when the light is a lot better.
I had my closest encounter ever this morning - also not in the best of light. I went in a mate's car to a spot with its own patrolling barn owl and really struck lucky. We ended up about ten feet away in the 'mobile hide' snapping away to our heart's content. I will post some snaps but not on this thread.
Good luck in your quest. I get a thrill every time I see one.
Colin

The Owl came straight towards three of us a veered of a few feet away from us. Don't know if it was the noise of the camera or one of the lads moving his bins that caused the change in direction.
