| | | RSPB Membership Card Hi,
Odd question, but I am just wondering what the current RSPB membership card looks like, it is similar to a plastic credit card etc? Also when do you use it, is is needed to be shown at RSPB reserves for entry?
I am very new to birding and have just joined the RSPB but am just curious at it could be a while before the welcome pack arrives.
pictures would be great if possible
kind regards,
Thomas |

| | | Re: RSPB Membership Card Hi Holtender, not sure about adult membership card maybe different? A child's membership card is just a bit of card had to get it laminated.....
Lovely picture of Kingfisher Great welcome pack...
It does say on the card to take to RSPB reserves for free entry as each member has their own ref No....
Well done for joining, I must too....Now Xmas out the way

| | | Re: RSPB Membership Card Mine's in the car so I cant refer to it precisely but it is credit card sized made of quite thin plastics. Previous year's had a robin on a washing line if I remember and my current one has an owl, probably a barn owl but I cant remember exactly. |

There are some reserves that have no visitor centres where there is no one to see your membership but many do and with them come car parks.
Normally there is a car parking fee which is wavered if the card is left displayed in the car.

| | | Re: RSPB Membership Card Mine is the size of a credit card but more flimsy. Seems there is variation in the photo - mine has a barn owl. At my local reserve they check the card and so you get in free.

| | | Re: RSPB Membership Card Mines the same, Barn Owl on it. Most reserves I've visited say to leave it in the window and then there are no car park charges.

we have always been asked to show ours at any reserve. sometimes we're given a tag, sometimes we're not. we used to think this was to show you'd either paid or were a member and had to display it. however, it appears not and is purely for the rspb to keep count of how many people go to the reserve, and it's not necessary to display it. the tags can be recycled in boxes provided when you leave. |

| | | Re: RSPB Membership Card Mine has a mixture of pictures - robin, dragonfly, ladybird and bluebell. Mr London's is the same. I was an RSPB virgin, so this was my first one. I searched the envelope for the cards by feeling for them. " Where's our cards" I was saying to himself. I thought they'd forgotten us. They hadn't, it's just that they are paper thin. The first thing that happened to them was that they were laminated. Probably not the best material to laminate, it didn't work so well and the cards are covered in bubbles.
Oh well, it's all for a good cause.
