How to identify bird song

Hi all
The dawn chorus has just started so I thought it would be a good idea to try to find an easy way to identify birds by their songs. Of course I could buy a recording, but you can't really take it out into the field can you? And I don't 'carry a tune' very well.
My bird book tries to describe the song verbally, but it doesn't do so in much detail. So I thought it might help if we worked out a few good verbal mnemonics, for songbirds.
The most famous perhaps is 'a little bit of bread and no cheese' for the yellow hammer, and Judy for the great tit, although I think it sounds more like 'Did You' And of course, 'The wise thrush sings each song twice over' (or three or four times) and the chaffinch on the orchard bough sings 'spiggelly wiggely spiggely SQUICHOOOO'!
I would particularly like to hear some mnemonics for the warblers, if any one can manage it? I can only quote the chiff chaff who goes...three guesses.

you could get one of the cd sets out there and dowload them to an i-pod or mp3 player

I've got 2 sets of birdcall CDs on my Nokia. Work a treat for identifying what you hear. And you've always got your phone with, right!?

but the other day when a f sparrowhawk visited they said..
'She's ki..lled him, She's ki..lled him, She's ki..lled him'

Hope you have a sense of humour They've got to have the next most annoying 'song' to a chiff chaff ! Give me a blackbird/robin/wren anyday.
