Blackbird behaving like Ring Ouzel

Yes it's a female Blackbird but for one second I did a double take. It appeared bigger and slimmer than normal blackies and was holding its wings down 'ouzel like'. Guess I have just started getting Spring migrant fever

Am I imagining that I've read this somewhere, that blackbirds 'drum' (not the right word but the closest I can think of) the ground to encourage worms, a sort of birdy wormcharming? Or am I going mad.......? Am I getting it confused with behavior of another type of bird/animal?

i've not seen it myself, but it is certainly done by other species. i've seen gulls doing it, stamping on the ground getting them to come up. poor worms!
