At work yesterday I got a phone call from a mate who photograph's at a feeding station we have been using for the last few years to tell me about what a very few members at a local fishing club had done to are feeding station there reason is that we are using there car park and they pay £22 each a year to use the car park but we have permission from the land owner to be there totally gutted.

I think the best thing that you could do would be not to shout about it too much as this might spur them on .Maybe you could put a board near to the feeders and ask everyone to report their sightings then you might get them coming over to your side . If people feel included they often change their behaviour for the better .

My advice would be to be absolutely definitely SURE that it was the fishing group, do you have witnesses or any other PROOF that it was them, as it could have been any vandals. Maybe you have real PROOF, that I do not know about, but if not be VERY careful as you could find yourselves accused of Slander and/or Libel. Strange behaviour. They must have a better reason than that. I don't understand that mentality. So, they pay money for the car park. Are spaces limited? Are they saying you should pay? Are they worried about damage to their cars from droppings?

You can just imagine the care that the people that did this (which will be no more than two or three members probably) give the fish as they catch them, "gently" disgorge and "carefully" place them back in the water

Maybe you should have a word with the owner?

I would be very careful about pointing any fingers at anyone or any one group unless you have solid proof and it would be best to try and get everyone on board who uses any site/venue rather than risking upsetting people who have had no involvment in this.

Have seen vandalisim happen at a few sites i have worked on and this has come in the form of a backlash when people feel excluded by new or enforced regulations that have been brought in without everyone being consulted or that some feel left out of any consultation. Some of this was also caused by 'casual' vandalisim by teenagers who were bored during school breaks and see these sites has a soft target and a place to hang out and in which to 'express' themselves and who on the whole didnt seem to understand all the hard work of others that goes into maintaining and running a site.

Some people however will do it out of pure malice and these are from all walks of life and all age groups but thankfully these individuals are still quite a rare species.

I know it can be heartbreaking at times to find a lot of hard work undone and money wasted and the mentality of such action is hard to understand but co-operation is much better than confrontation. Fostering good relations is essential with all groups who use any site and then hopefully people will appriciate all the hard work that goes into looking after any site/venue.

I hope you manage to resolve the situation.

looking at the photograph i very much doubt it was vandals, but by mindless morons, i dont mind putting this on , if they dont like the feeders being there they could have taken them down or told the landlord and have them placed elswhere, regards rossy.

Take your pics to the landowner he may be able to put up a notice to the affect this will not be tolerated on his land and anyone seen vandalising the property of others will be dealt with.
That way the finger is not pointing at anyone in particular but letting the culprits know the landowner is on your side and they could be forced off his land..

Yes, do be sure who is doing this stuff, if its a fishing club carpark it could well have been someone trying to get at the fishermen. That has been happening a lot in the northeast.

I haven't seen the pictures but I would recommend contacting the club via e-mail. I believe this will help to prevent any confrontation. If they are unco-operative contact the angling press. If a club is responsible they should be held accountable. Think maybe they assume Xpounds to fish means exclusive access to car park. You don't fish car parks. This should be made clear to them.
