| | | Moorhens In Trees? I saw one sitting in a tree branch just above a shallow river, I thought at first it was a blackbird until another one in the water pulled itself up onto the branch hanging over the water that the other was in, have you every seen anything odd in a tree? |

| | | Re: Moorhens In Trees? I have seen Moorhens quite often in low waterside trees- sometimes a safe place to roost away from Foxes, etc.
I've seen photos of a couple of Bitterns at different locations in London perched up in trees. |

| | | Re: Moorhens In Trees? a few years back i saw one which seemed very content sitting on an old Wood Pigeon nest in a low waterside Elder. It just seemed just to be resting rather than nesting but was still quite a surreal sight I also live about two miles from any water course and last winter was very surprised to see a Moorhen sat on my hedge first thing when i opened my blinds one morning. The bird looked like a young bird and not a full adult by the colouration of its bill and it stayed around for two days mostly wandering around below my feeding station until the local 'free range' nieghbourhood cats took an interest. |
