| | Ever wondered about what happens between birds & cats? A bit of fun
Don't know how to put a link here but type in Simon's cat into Google then click on "Snow Business" to find outwhat happens between cats & birds while you're not there. Even if you're not a cat lover you'll love it.

| | | Re: Ever wondered about what happens between birds & cats? Hi Cowgirl. Sitting on th fence= possible=just! Of course we all love cats. Beautiful animals. The trouble is cats and rare birds mammals and... well everything else; don't mix. I have thought about owning a cat but living on a nature reserve I can't. It's as simple as that. Unless I managed to find a cat that was white, blind, deaf, and only had three legs. |

Of course we all love cats, beautiful animals. I would love to have one but living on a nature reserve I CAN'T. It's as simple as that. Cats and wildlife do not mix! If I could find a cat that was white, blind, deaf, and only had three legs I would have it and love it.
Seriously you cannot call yourself a lover of wildlfe and own two or three black killers, unless you make sure that at least they are locked indoors every night from dusk. This is not difficult to do. Give the main feed after dusk and lock the cat flap on 'entry only.' All proper cat flaps have an 'entry only' device. If you go out in the morning and are not home until late you can turf them out and put it on entry only when you go out. They will soon learn to stay out for most of the day, unless it rains. |

Nothing to do with a statement about cats themselves. In actual fact I have two dogs.
You could always keep a cat as a house cat. One of my sisters had three (rescued when they lived in Singapore & brought them back with her to Britain) that lived like that & they were pefectly contented (she doesn't work full time, mind you) & they all lived till their twenties, she still has one left (20yrs old) going senile that forgets she's just eaten & just wrows very loudly for food constantly. Visiting is a trial!

| | | Re: Ever wondered about what happens between birds & cats? For goodness sake! It's a very funny, well drawn little animation. I doubt very much whether the creator of it was intending to make any particular point about the keeping of cats. (In this case I think the bird won anyway). PLease, please don't let this thread turn into another wretched argument.

| | | Re: Ever wondered about what happens between birds & cats? you will never stop a domestic cat from killing it's down to instinct but this can be curtailled by keeping them indoors at all times
Nothing against cats or cat owners/lovers but domestic cats do a vast amount of damage to wild birds and small mammals each year and i would never keep one because of this.
I did read last week that some Bristol University research students have shown that cat owners are normally better educated than dog owners but if this is the case why do cat owners continue put their cats outside to reap wildlife? |
