| | lone green parakeet? Most of us have been visited at some time by the green parakeets. I know some dislike them but i however dont think we have the right to decide if they should be here? I mean 40 yrs plus thats long enough however to accept them, well i do and i enjoy them however, has anyone come across lone parakeets because since last summer i have had one come into garden i have called him shortie because he does not seem to have a tail i think there maybe something wrong with his feet because today he was just hanging from the peanut feeder by his beak unable to climb and also he has been sitting under the covered bird table he is never with the other parakeets..he can fly but is never far away i was wondering if he has been rejected and always looks so sad, i have never had a parakeet come so low to the ground as this one? |

| | | Re: lone green parakeet? Are you sure it's a parakeet and not an escaped lovebird? They have short tails, and it might explain why it isn't looking too good. |

| in fairness though, we were the ones to bring them here (or jimi hendrix ), while they shouldn't be here, its not their natural range and they are causing problems for other birds by expoiting the niches they've been working so hard to fill over generations. i'd still love to see one though and there are a lot of non natives that i enjoy observing
