Not the best of shots, but spotted it when I opened the patio door to take some rubbish out. A bit of panic to get the camera; no card in it; where's the card; next to the computer (I'd taken it out to download pics from Wednesday); a dash through the house fer card; more panic to get a card in; light was dire (oiking down with rain); ISO, get the ISO up; "just turn the dial" I'm thinking, no time fer niceties and all the while praying to every god under the sun, that it won't scoot.

As soon as the shutter clattered, it was away and out of the six shots I grabbed, this was the only half decent one.

C'est la photographie de faune, what!

Sparrowhawk..male I think, as much smaller and browner than the big female that normally hunts around here...sat on back fence for about an hour this morning...in the rain. Waited beautifully till I charged camera up, then as soon as I ready to take shots...he ups n offs....c'est la vie! 'He' had beautiful vivid orange eyes and bright rufous cheeks, with heavily speckled chest, took off like a jump jet....so graceful.
