Dunno this one Ash, sorry!
They are quite larger, Pheasantish size, but I always thought young/immature pheasant were similar to adults, partic female, but just not quite as well developed in plumage, so not with that type of bold marking.
hens of some sort?

In the second image the poults on the left and the one in the foreground will be cock birds and the one on the far right will be a hen |

The one showing it's flanks in the second photograph seems to have some distinct marking on its side that is reminiscent of a juvenile Red-legged Partridge, but its difficult to tell.
