Identification Please
Can anyone idendify this little bird please. Spotted on Bude canal this morning, flitting around the edge of the canal in the grass. It's slightly smaller than a sparrow ...

Thank you.

Is this a young male or just winter plumage? My books show the male has a white collar but all of them also show a black face.

With the mottled throat, this looks like a 1st winter plumage. I would have thought female. Nice shot!
