They are classed as escapees but there is talk that they may eventually be put on the official british list.

Is that British 'Supermarket' List ? 
Oh all right, they're harmless enough I suppose, but apparently the name comes from the River Muscov - hence Moscow, where they originate from. (well that's what a little bird told me anyway)

Its another one of these escapees that is naturalising and no doubt will cause a lot of debate and disagreement!
They are a tropical Duck from mexico but can survive down to -12 without ill affect.

Actually it was a wildfowler who told me that story, and to think I've passed it on to maybe 25 others !
So how did it end up being called Muscovy then ?
