| | | Dartford Warblers Has anyone been out to assess the damage to their local Dartford Warbler populations at all? Can't imagine that we've got many left at all now after the double dose of hard weather in February '09 and more recently a couple of weeks ago.
Cheers,
Adam |

| | | Re: Dartford Warblers I know after last Feb's snow some Surrey/East Sussex populations crashed by over 80%; when I visited Thursley I was told there was only 1 bird last summer.
This year the snow/cold has been more extensive, so could have affected the other stongholds in Dorset + the New Forest as well as more recent populations in Suffolk, Devon + South Wales.
Hopefully some have remained in all these areas + we have a good summer for breeding. |

One other place is Hindhead Common but I've not been there for a while so I can't comment but I imagine it must be much the same.
Glad you still have them in the New Forest Deer Stalker |

| | | Re: Dartford Warblers I took this shot on January the 4th 2010.
We were down at Arne today and were asked to report any sightings back to the hut. We didnt see any, which is a bit unusual. We did see and photograph two goldcrests though, which is encouraging. |
