Just joined, so not quite sure what to do. Took these pics from bedroom window on 19th Jan, think it is a lesser redpole.
Not rare but not very often seen.

Our garden is currently seething with them - around the niger seed feeders. Mind you they don't get to eat much - the grumpy little blighters spend most of the time snapping and snarling at each other and the goldfinches, in trying to dominate the feeders!

Thanks for your replies. My wife has always been interested in all forms of wildlife, now retired I am getting the bug!!!
Last year (July and August) we got hooked on butterflies, followed them for hours trying to take the perfect picture. |
